NPP and NDC deploy senior officers as pollsters in high-risk Kumawu by-election

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has deployed 47 MMDCEs to Ashanti Region, a large number of MPs and Deputy Ministers serving as polling staff for the ongoing Kumawu by-election.

The National Democratic Party Congress (NDC) also emphasized its high interest in the by-election by sending senior party officials and lawmakers to closely monitor the election. North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is an NDC poll worker, as is Asante Akyem Central City Executive Robert Kwakye, an NPP polling officer.

Robert Kwakye, in an interview with Nana Boakye Yiadom of Adom News, said the strategy helps ensure victory and preserves party traditions, adding that the NPP’s dominance of the Kumawu seat will constant. Kumawu is the NPP and the NPP is Kumawu, he said, explaining that this is why no other party has been successful in the constituency.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress Party (NDC), along with two independent candidates, are vying for the parliamentary seat today, Tuesday, May 23.

Yaw Anim is the NPP candidate, the NDC is choosing Kwasi Amankwaa, while the two independent candidates are both named Kwaku Dua. Up to 34,800 people are registered to vote in their constituency in the 2020 general election.
