Paris Olympics unveil 2024 Olympic Torch

Organizers the France Olympic Games have announced on Tuesday the torch that will be used to carry the Olympic Flame around France ahead of the 2024 Games.

A shiny cylinder made of recycled steel, the torch was created by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur, who was “inspired by three symbols of the upcoming Olympics: equality, water and peace”

Colored bubbly troche’s is tapered at both ends and are produced in limited quantities to conserve resources. According to the organizers, 2000 torches have been produced, five times fewer than in some previous versions of the Olympics.

A long trip

The torch will start its journey in Olympia, Greece, where it will be lit, before being transported by boat to Marseilles, in the south of France. The torch relay will begin there on 8 May, with 10,000 torchbearers taking turns holding the torch, the last to light the cauldron as the Games open

The same torch design will be used for the Olympics and Paralympics. Thousands of other torch bearers will wear it for the Paralympic Games.

A mythical creature

Internationally known for her creations, Lehanneur, 49, said that designing the Olympic torch was “a unique dream beyond measure.”

“At the same time as ritual and magic, the Torch is a mythical object. As a symbol of cohesion and sharing, it really played an important role in the Olympic Games. ,” Lehanneur said.

“It will travel thousands of kilometers, will be transmitted from person to person, on land and at sea. For Paris 2024 and for the first time in history, it will emit complete symmetry.
