Romania judge lift house arrest of British-American kickboxer Andrew Tate’s

Tate Andrew contentious publicist is now freed from home arrest in Romania pending trial for rape and human trafficking.

Andrew and brother Tristan were detained in March and charged in June, charges they deny.

The brothers can move freely in the capital Bucharest and in the Ilfov district around where they live.

They must report to the police as ordered and notify them of any change of address. Meanwhile they are also not allowed from contacting the 2 accused Romanian accomplices with them, witnesses or the alleged victim or their families.

Violation of these rules may subject them to house arrest or preventive detention.

A judge will verify compliance with the conditions over the next 60 days.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Romanian justice system for its fair consideration,” the brothers’ spokesman said in a statement following the ruling.

“This positive result gives us confidence that more favorable developments are afoot.”

Tate, a convert to Islam, also tweeted in response to the decision, condemning the accusations as “groundless” and deemed “weak and circumstantial” by the judge.

The brothers were first arrested at their home in December and placed under house arrest three months later.

The indictment says that they and two Romanian associates formed an organized crime group in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, but also in other countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

The indictment named seven alleged victims who it said were recruited by the Tate brothers through vain promises of love and marriage.

In 2016, Tate, a former British-American kickboxer, was dropped from the British TV show Big Brother because of a video showing him assaulting a woman.

He continued to gain popularity online, with Twitter banning him for saying women should be “responsible” for sexual assault. He has been in restored since then.
