Professor Frimpong-Boateng drags to court by Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko over defamation galamsey report

Lawyer and New Patriotic Party member Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko sued former Environment Minister Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng for defamation and demanded compensation of GHȼ10 million .

Gabby sued Professor Frimpong-Boateng for defamation in his controversial report on the activities of the previous Inter-Ministerial Commission on Illegal Mining, and in addition to the “Ten million Ghanaian Cedis (GHC10) .,000,000.00) as general damages, including aggravating damages and/or exemplifying defamation,”

Gabby also wants him to apologize and retract his comment. He also sought a permanent injunction to restrict Professor Frimpong-Boateng, “whether alone, his servant, agent or designee from repeating the same or defamatory statements.” against him (Gabby).

It has been two weeks since a detailed report on the fight against illegal mining in the country, written by Professor Frimpong-Boateng, was leaked.

Those reportedly named have played various roles in obstructing the work of the presidential committee, all of which have denied wrongdoing and challenged the author to provide evidence.

Gabby was the first to sue Professor Frimpong-Boateng for assumed  libel.
